Blossom into being

“Sometimes we are on the verge of blossoming into a thousand flowers.

But we don’t.

We are waiting. We are thinking, ”Maybe tomorrow. I’m quite busy right now doing the same unsatisfying things I have been doing for years. Yep, pretty busy.”

Or maybe we are afraid of what will happen if we open up. We are afraid to leave a bad situation because we’ve forgotten what a good one even looks like for us.

We’ve gotten so used to a life surrounded by unhappiness that we’ve convinced ourselves it’s normal. After all, everyone else’s life looks like this, too.

Somewhere along the way we stopped believing in our own strength and beauty. We think we’ve lost it, or maybe it was never really there.

And worst of all, we’ve let someone else define who we are for us. We’ve lost who we are so we’ll believe whatever anyone else tells us, even if it makes us smaller…angrier.

There are not enough voices telling us the Truth. There are not enough voices to get through the mist that has gathered around our belief in ourselves.

Don’t let anyone hold you back.
Yes, you have been buried.
Like all good seeds. It’s time to live.
It’s time to open to the world, to the Sun and to yourSelf.
You are on the verge
Of something

be me

my trust in you fled long ago,

when your careless words

sliced me deep, embarrassed me,

made me feel ashamed of me

now, after so many years,

I can’t find the desire to try

to want to trust you again

you were meant to be my forever

but now that seems like a prison

clipping my wings,

shaming my passion,

putting me in a box of your closed mind

but my fire is burning the box from within,

unbridled,

unseen,

it will consume me

I will shed my shackles

and be me.

18 Things We Forget To Thank Our Exes For

Most people don’t see relationships for what they are because they’re too focused on what they need them to be. We want people to be placeholders – buffers between us and ourselves, promises that will save us from the brutal inevitability of our existence. We don’t have a healthy perception of what it means to connect and share a life with someone – even if just a portion of it – because we aren’t taught.
We don’t learn how to be grateful for what doesn’t work out, or to see everything for what it can teach us, how it can bring us closer to the people we hope to be. We think that the only good love is forever love, because what we want from love is the same thing we want from marriage and religion and an inflated sense of self-purpose: to be saved.
So we begin to…

When Cutting Off All Ties With Your Ex Isn’t An Option

When you’re thinking that it’s time to move on…

If there’s any cardinal rule we hear over and over about breaking up, it is this: Don’t try to stay friends with your ex.

There are a various reasons people use to back up this opinions: Staying friends means you still love them. It means you still want them back. It means you never loved them at all in the first place and your entire relationship was a sham.

All of these conditions are awfully assumptive. Yes, there are times when the strongest thing to do is to discard love – to let someone’s toxicity roll down the drain and wash out of our lives as seamlessly as it came in. But there are other times when love is a little more subjective – and it must be.

Sometimes the person we no longer love romantically is still the person who takes care of our children. Sometimes they’re…

Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play

And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It’s always darkest before the dawn

And I’ve been a fool and I’ve been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I’m always dragging that horse around

All of his questions, such a mournful sound
Tonight I’m gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues drawn
But it’s always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

And I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I’m gonna cut it out and then restart
‘Cause I like to keep my issues drawn
It’s always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
And given half the chance would I take any of it back
It’s a fine romance but it’s left me so undone
It’s always darkest before the dawn

Oh whoa, oh whoa…

And I’m damned if I do and I’m damned if I don’t
So here’s to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I’m ready to suffer and I’m ready to hope
It’s a shot in the dark aimed right at my throat
‘Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Well what the hell I’m gonna let it happen to me, yeah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa

Hounds

“The Hounds need direction.”

I read this on a blog post today* and it resonated with me.

“And if they bark and bay and chew on your shoe anyway, you say, “That’s just my brain doing it’s thing,” and you firmly turn away and lovingly go about sticking to your Conditions of Enoughness, knowing that the lingering feeling of not enoughness is a habit, a groove, not permanent, not fixed, and certainly not an indication that you are not living up to your fabled potential.”

My Hounds are being shown quite firmly that my shoes are not for chewing, but if they want to go dig up the bit of the garden I don’t mind, and I will still give them a pat when they come to play later.
